PLEASE READ THIS DESCRIPTION BEFORE BIDDING;
W30 VARIAC VARIABLE AUTO TRANSFORMER 120V 30A
I beleive this is a new old stock or little used W30 variable transformer, still bolted to it's wooden base as it was originally sold and shipped when new.
HOW EVER  it does have a minor problem;  when I turn the dial to change the output voltage there is a "click" at about the 11:00 o'clock postion when looking at our first included picture.
I inspected this noise and there is a small indentation on the top surface of ONE of the copper winding's "wraps" at about this 11 o'clock position. Only ONE of the wraps is affected. As the coil's brushes track around their circle, there is a click when they pass over this indentation. This W30 has three seperate brushes, mounted side by side.  I can see that one of these three brushes is broken , evidently from when this dent was created and will need to be replaced  for the full 30amp rating to be useful,  I am guesing that this happened when the variac was being shipped,  and is probably why it was never sold as new?
Anyway, as long as you can live with a small click as you turn the dial  this variac does work as intended. we have tested it with a volt meter.
