Good-Very Good overall antique cond: Very early & exceptionally rare. Nearly 170-200 yrs old. You too, as clearly some did before, can adorn your own front door & re-immortalize the already immortal late 18th-early 19th c critically acclaimed & read the world over, legendary Scottish poet, novelist & writer Sir Walter Scott, w/this solid, 2-pc, hinged bronze figurative door knocker & cut-out bronze back mounting plate. The figuration is outstanding & is only slightly diminished from its prev exposure to the elements out of doors & to repeated handling. Notwithstanding this, the bronze door knocker, feat the author of such works as 'Lady of the Lake,' 'Ivanhoe,' 'Marmion,' 'Waverly' & 'Rob Roy,' remains in very well pres cond. Born in 1771 in Edinburgh, Scotland, UK, Sir Walter Scott became a nationally & internationally recognized author from the UK & his literary works, be they vols of poetry or prose in the form of novels, were read & celebrated the world over. Simply outstanding.
