About the Stone:
Butter Jade, also known as African Jade is an
ancient semiprecious stone found in the greenstone belt
of Southern Africa and typically around 50 million years old.
Visible grains are iron and seaweed strata lines
within the formation, giving each stone its
unique character, like a fingerprint proving authenticity.
Only skilled masters use its medium due to extreme hardness.
About the Artist:
Born in 1976. Farai Mangenda began learning
the art of Shona sculpture in 1996 under the guidance
of Charles Chikazunga, perfecting his skill by 1998.
He specializes in heads, bust figures, and portraits.
His sculpture is recognized worldwide.
Substantially crafted,
tipping the scales
at nearly
56 pounds.
This is a pre-owned piece and will show signs of regular
wear normal to its careful and respected use.
However, it is in good condition and displays beautifully.
Hoop earrings are carved within each other and have free movement.
Butter Jade can withstand weather conditions and handle natural settings.
