Description
This auction is for a vintage metal printing plate on the original wooden backing that has been mounted on a piece of exotic wood for display. On the middle of the scabbard near both of the rings it is marked with a reverse image of the word "POLITIA" and what appears to be a crest with a lion image. At the end of the printing plate there is also a reverse image of the number "1417". This printing plate was used for the Eickhorn catalog in what the seller believes would be the early 20th century. Eickhorn was located in Solingen, Germany and was known worldwide for their swords and blades. Their huge factory was partially destroyed during WW II and rebuilt in the following years. The back shows evidence of the original paper tag that would have shown this printed image. Study the picture of the blade and the scabbard for the intricate detail. The wooden base measures 11 inches in length, 2 inches front to back and is 3/4 inch in height. This piece weighs 1 pound 7 ounces. Study the pictures carefully as there are no returns. This seller does not ship internationally.
