Custom Vintage Variac Powerstat with Simpson Volt Gauge

This is what appears to be a vintage custom built
variac
powerstat of some kind.
I am not an expert on this sort of thing.  It has a Simpson AC volt meter that goes from 0 to 130, a dial on the back, input and output outlets and several vents on the metal case.
I have not tested this unit.
I'll
try my best to answer any questions, but as I said I'm not an expert on this type of equipment.
