VINTAGE 1960S AURORA SLOT CAR SET #1688.
Aurora Model Motoring Tjet set #1688 from 1966 includes all items listed below.
2 running cars:
An original molded blue Pontiac Firebird and a molded white Ford J Car as pictured.
Both have body mods so you can put these on the track and have some fun! Looks like a drop of oil is all they'll need to be ready to go racing.
Both cars run solid and both have good tires and guide pins too.
There are 2 extra bodies including a molded yellow 1963 Corvette and a white Mangusta. Front wheel wells have been heavily modified on both cars for long wheelbase position racing. Screw posts are good in both bodies.
Track:
12-9 inch straights tracks #1517, 10-9 inch 1/4 curves #1519, 2-9 inch straight Criss-Cross tracks #1524, 3-6 inch straight tracks #1527, 1-9 inch straight Terminal track #1520, 1-9 inch straight Lap Counter(with original instruction sheet) #1526. Also included is over 60+ steel track connector pins and 30+ track connector clips as well as 5 spools of wire to completely put this set together. There are 6 yellow speed curves as pictured. Most of these have at least 1 tab missing so I am including about a dozen repair clips to remedy that. There are over 15 snap on guard rails that are complete with no missing tabs. And finally there are 15 elevation trestles with 130 trestle extensions to get this bad boy off the ground.
This set
will fit in an area roughly 6' x 5'.
Accessories:
The original track layout sheet. 2 plunger style speed controllers. 1-20 volt Transformer power pack.
Hop Up box that includes an extra pair of pickup shoes for each car, a bottle of Aurora red racing oil that is about half full, a Hop Up Guide booklet, and a yellow flat head screwdriver for tuning and working on the cars and track with. Additional items are a thick Aurora Service Manual that is chock full of valuable info on the Aurora line of cars track and accessories with lots of illustrations and pictures, and an original dated 1962 Aurora Ford Thunderbird model kit box that holds all of the wire and track connectors pictured.
NOTE:
This set has not been set up in quite some time so the pickup shoe contact rails will probably need a light scuffing/sanding to be race ready.
The contact tabs on the track look fantastic overall with no rust or heavy corrosion so I believe that most of them will not need to be cleaned for this set to work fine. But, there may be a few that will be that I could have missed in my initial inspection.
