    Description

    HS-400 High Performance Design Features
    :
    q
High rigidity one piece bed incorporates the use of a special casting technology eliminating most cored holes, which therefore provides up to 200% more rigidity than conventional methods.
    q
High Speed Machining demands efficient chip disposal, therefore the column traverse becomes the “X” axis to provide for better chip disposal between the column and the table.
    q
The A.P.C. requires only movement of the “Y” axis that allows pallet changes to operate free of any interference with both the “Z” and “Y” axes movements.
    q
The A.T.C. mechanism is structurally aligned to the “X” axis (column) and movement of the “Y” axis (spindle) is encapsulated within the column itself.  This design feature provides the trouble-free, high-speed tool changes required for High Speed Machining.  (ATC time tool/tool=0.8 seconds) (chip/chip 3.0)
    q
High speed rapid traverse rates of 50m/min. (1,970 I.P.M.) dramatically reduces non-cutting times.  These superior rapid traverse rates are made possible by using a feed mechanism that employs a 40mm (1.57”) diameter, dual lead ballscrew that is pretensioned and double anchored.  This highly rigid design allows the high speed rapid traverse, yet minimized thermal distortion and           inertia induced flex during acceleration and deceleration of the axes.
    q
    High Speed Machining demands a
    High Performance Spindle Drive
.  The HS-400 is equipped with an Integral, 33 H.P. AC spindle drive motor which also includes a spindle chiller.  This combination of features allows spindle speeds of 60 to 12,000 R.P.M .
    q
The ATC Magazine/Change Arm Mechanism is designed to minimize the time it takes to stage the next machining tool as well as providing expanded magazine capacity.  The ATC Arm is operated by a high-speed cam driven mechanism which ensures high-speed performance and maximum reliability.  The magazine chain speed has been increased to 26m/min. (1024”/min.) to shorten the “next tool” call time.(servo style).
    q
The ATC Magazine features a "pot removable" tool exchange system with fixed address or address change selectable by M-code.
    q
A High-Speed Rotary Type APC including Two (15.75”) pallets is standard.  Load Station may be rotated 360 degrees for easy loading, cleaning or set-up. To ensure operator safety during A.P.C. operation.  The APC is fully enclosed A.P.C. at the load station and interlocked so that the APC cannot cycle when the loading station doors are open.
    q
The Hitachi Seiki Sigma Control is configured to allow high-speed feed rate capability of up to 787”/min.
    q
High Volume Coolant System includes Flood Coolant Pump, Jet Wash Pump, and a 132 Gallon Capacity Coolant Tank.
Thermal distortion of the entire machine is controlled within +/- 10 Microns by the
