1960s Lifesize Fiberglass "Silent Sam" Construction Man Statue Made Canada
This unit measures 83" height x 83" Length x 27" Width
" These wonderful robotic men where manufactured in the 1960's. I was told the industrial engineer, Robert Malone who designed and produced " Silent Sam" wanted to create a robotic warning man for the construction industry. His " men" did the job well, working anytime and anywhere. Unfortunately Mr Malones men were not unionized. These robots were viewed as taking a living, breathing man's job away. As a result, their life on the job site was short. Most were destroyed to insure that they would never take the place of a living road worker.
these life-size, 6'2", all fiberglass men were very well made. They feature a molded jumpsuit, work boots, construction hat, hand painted faces, and hand painted hair. No two robots are the same. They retain their original paint.They operate on 12 volts dc. Either the left or right arm (adjustable) will raise and lower.
